They came. They saw. They sang... and danced! Coming together to celebrate our school's 80th anniversary, the Maimo community had ruach to spare.
Following dinner in both Brener and Saval, a d'var Torah
from Rabbi David Saltzman, and a wonderful rendition of Eliyahu Hanavi
from the Elementary School Chorus, Head of School Naty Katz took the stage and talked about the school's 80th anniversary and how Maimonides remains as innovative today as it was 80 years ago. "When the Rav first founded a Jewish Day School where Jewish boys and girls would study together in a classroom, that was revolutionary," said Naty. "And when the boys and girls studied the same rigorous curriculum in General Studies and Limudei Kodesh
, that was groundbreaking. Today Maimonides continues to lead."
Naty then introduced Israeli superstar Gad Elbaz to a packed house of screaming fans. Gad belted out his signature song Hashem Melech
as the audience crowded the stage, bouncing up and down to the beat. The energy continued to increase with each song, culminating an hour later with an exhausted but satisfied crowd.
