Four Seniors Named National Merit Semifinalists
Four Maimonides School seniors have been named semifinalists in this year’s National Merit Scholarship Program.
The students are Yehuda Gale, son of Atarah and Yisrael Gale of Brighton; Alexander Kahan, son of Ruth Leah and David Kahan of Ra’anana, Israel; Elisheva Rosen, daughter of Amy and Dr. Hillel Rosen of Newton; and Mikhael Smits, son of Frederique and Conrad Smits of Newton.
Semifinalists were the top performers in the 2011 Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. They represent less than 1 percent of all U.S.high school seniors.
Semifinalists are eligible to compete for National Merit Scholarships, to be awarded next spring.
