Game Warriors: Final Projects 2010
Welcome to the final projects web page of Maimonides Game Warriors, Spring 2010!
Game Warriors is a course for 3rd to 7th graders taught by Dr. Ari Trachtenberg through the
Maimonides Elementary School
After School Program (run by Dr. Deborah Mehl).
The class involves designing and building a customized
version of the popular "breakout" arcade game, in which
a ball bounces around a screen hitting bricks for points.
Students learn some basic analytic geometry, experiment with the
laws of (animation) physics, and ultimately build their own computer game by
writing real Java code (based on an instructor-supplied template).
Click on one of the images below to play the games written by actual students in the
class.
General rules:
- Move the mouse left and right to move the paddle.
- Press [SPACE] to pause the motion. (You may need to click on the window to gain keyboard focus)
- Clear everything but the balls and paddles (some bricks are invisible) to move to the next level.
